Avoiding a Usual Tourist Path

All the travel sites gave the same directions from Kyoto Station to bus stop to temple. Maps showed two other streets from the bus stop that also went to the temple. Given that Kiyomixu-dera is one of the most visited sights in town, I figured the main way would be wall to wall shops selling tourist crap to tourists. Google maps satellite view convinced me to pick door number 3.

#1 - The usual way.

#2 - Longer than #1 but quieter.

#3 - Longer still, but really quiet.

A narrow road led to the cemetery. From the entrance on it was footpaths and stairs. This is the upper portion of the cemetery. In all it’s about 800 meters long.
